In spite of the small 'minimum hours' required by Transport Canada to qualify for an Ultralight Pilot Permit, a more realistic number is 18 to 25 hours. For an average of 20 hours of supervised flight time, ( both dual instruction and solo), ground school and incidental costs like examination fees, etc., a reasonable cost to budet would be $3,500.

If you already own an aircraft and would like to receive your UL Pilot Permit using it, the costs will be reduced dramatically, to approx $1,000.
